East Lake- Howard Walker was named Firefighter of the year at the January 27, 2009 Board of Fire Commissioners meeting.  Walker was hired to the department in 2006.  He is a Firefighter Paramedic and resides in Plant City with his family. The award was picked thru a recommendation made by his Lieutenant, Jim Dalrymple. 

          Fire Chief Jeff Malzone presented Walker with a plaque and a certificate at the meeting which was followed by a celebration.  Fire Chief Malzone described Walker as a person that is always willing to help.  He helps out his fellow employees and the department by going above and beyond.  Fire Chief Malzone felt Walker was very deserving to be the 2008 Firefighter of the year.
