East Lake Fire Rescue sent 4 members of the Honor Guard and a Deputy Chief to South Carolina to pay respect to the nine Charleston Firefighters that lost their lives on June 18, 2007. East Lake Firefighters took part in a 200 apparatus procession followed by a 2 1/2 hour memorial service at the North Charleston Coliseum. Several other bay area departments such as Safety Harbor, Clearwater, St. Pete Beach, Tampa, and Pasco County also sent personnel. Approximately 20,000 attended the memorial service.
