East Lake Tarpon Special Fire Control District is a full-service Department that supplies Fire Prevention, Suppression and Investigation as well as Advanced Life Support Rescue, Hazardous Materials First Response, Vehicle Extrication, and Mutual Aid assistance to neighboring departments and counties. East Lake Fire & Rescue also offers many community interactive services such as: CPR instruction, Certified Child Safety Seat Installation, Blood Pressure Checks, Home Safety and Pool Inspections, "Santa's Helper" Christmas Program, Fire Safety Week Programs with local Schools and Pre Schools as well as an Annual "Safety Day" Open House and Annual Haunted Fire House featuring a "Don't Text and Drive" safety message. All three stations are also "Safe Place" havens for troubled teens.
The East Lake Fire Control District is located in North East Pinellas County and is primarily a bedroom community with approx. 33,000 residents covering 33 square miles in unincorporated Pinellas County with mailing addresses from 3 separate post offices; Tarpon Springs, Palm Harbor, and Oldsmar. East Lake Fire & Rescue is a full time paid Fire Department consisting of 33 line personnel (including District Chiefs, Captains, Lieutenants, Driver-Engineers, Paramedics and EMTs) and 4 administrative personnel. East Lake Fire Rescue has 3 stations, 2 ALS Engines, an ALS Squad, a reserve Engine, a Brush Truck, a Water Truck, an Antique Fire Truck, and 3 Staff Vehicles.
East Lake Fire & Rescue is part of the Pinellas County EMS system. Pinellas County EMS is a two tiered system which provides first response ALS by Fire Departments while Sunstar, the county ambulance service, provides transport. Therefore, on any medical call or vehicle accident in Pinellas County both a Fire Dept. unit and a Sunstar unit are simultaneously responded. This system allows for the Fire Dept. units to become available much sooner due to the capability of transferring patients to Sunstar crews for transport to a hospital. In certain situations Fire Dept. crews do ride in with patients to assist Sunstar crews with patient care.
The vision of East Lake Fire Rescue is to be the premier
emergency services provider respected
by our community and peers. Our aim is to provide these services through fiscal responsibility, training,
education, technological innovation and a dedication to our core values.
Our mission is to provide the community with the highest level of protection for life, property, and
the environment. We will engage our community through progressive education and outreach programs.
