East Lake- During December, 2009, Santa came to town riding on East Lake Tarpon Special Fire Control District’s Antique Fire Truck. The Department had another successful season handing out gifts, smiles and the occasional candy cane. Santa traveled for 12 days delivering gifts to the boys and girls in our District; making about 150 stops and spreading good tidings and cheer to more than 2,500 children. We appreciate the donations which cover the Program’s expenses.
Also this past year, 51 CPR classes were held at Station 57 with 300 cards being issued. Our CPR classes ($25 fee) are held the 2nd Wednesday of the month from 6-9 pm. Anyone interested should call 727-784-8668 to sign up. The Department continues to do free Pool Surveys, Home and Business Safety Inspections and Blood Pressure Checks.
Lt. Mark Teolis was promoted to the rank of District Chief at the December 22 Board of Fire Commissioners Monthly Meeting. District Chief Teolis has been with the Department for 17 years and lives in Odessa with his wife, Karen and his son, John. During the ceremony, his son had the honor of pinning the new District Chief Badge on his dad’s shirt.
Also at the December 22 Board Meeting, the Board of Fire Commissioners unanimously voted on Resolution 09-07 that supports the Legislative delegations proposing any legislation concerning annexation which requires said annexation to be of a complete area as opposed to partial annexation. Please join us at our Monthly Board Meetings which are on the 4th Tuesday of the month, 6:30 p.m. at Station 57, 3375 Tarpon Lake Blvd., Palm Harbor, Florida.
