New East Lake Fire Engine

EAST LAKE- East Lake Tarpon Special Fire Control District (District) has taken delivery on a new 2009 fire engine at a cost of $445, 120.  The engine was built by Emergency One located in Ocala, Florida.  The new 2009 fire engine will go into service in early July.  The engine is currently being outfitted by fire crews installing tools and equipment from a 1993 reserve unit which has been sold to a fire truck dealer for a purchase price of $35,000. The money from the sale of the reserve unit will help off set the cost of the new fire engine. The purchase process of the new fire engine started in November 2007.  The new fire engine will be housed at East Lake Fire Station #56, located at 1933 East Lake Road. The current 2003 unit will now become a reserve unit for the District.  Fire engine apparatus are recommended to be replaced every 10 to 12 years. Due to current economic conditions, the District went to a 13- 15 year replacement program.
