Congratulations to our newly promoted members

EAST LAKE- East Lake Tarpon Special Fire Control District made two promotions at their May 25, 2010 Board Meeting at Fire Station 57, 3375 Tarpon Lake Blvd., Palm Harbor. 

            Michael Porch was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant.  Lt. Porch was raised in Middletown, New York and moved to Florida in 1989.  He lives in Lutz with his wife, Joy and two children, Lauren and Alicia.  Porch Graduated from St. Petersburg Junior College as a firefighter in 1989, gained his Paramedic Certificate in 1991, and was hired by East Lake Tarpon Special Fire Control District in April 1999.  While at the Department, Porch was promoted to Driver Engineer in 2004, earned his State of Florida Fire Officers One Certificate in 2005, Graduated with an Associates in Arts Degree from St. Petersburg College in 2008 and received his State of Florida Inspectors Certificate in 2008. He is currently enrolled at St. Petersburg College studying for a Bachelors Degree in Public Safety. 

            Kenneth Kovac was promoted to the rank of Driver Engineer.  D/E Kovac was raised in Wisconsin, where he was a member of the Caledonia Fire Department for 10 years before moving to Florida. He lives in Palm Harbor with his wife, Erin and two children, Megan and Brandon. Kovac is a National Registered Paramedic and has earned his Florida State Pump Operator Certificate.  He was employed by the District in 2008 and enjoys spending time with his family and remodeling his home.

             Fire Chief Jeff Malzone stated “Lt. Porch and D/E Kovac have worked hard to earn this and will do well in their new positions”.
